Busy mum and entrepreneur Kathryn Taylor runs CanvasFactory which specialises in original artwork on canvas using acrylics and fabrics.  The CanvasFactory portfolio ranges from large contemporary art pieces to small, ‘cute’ gifts providing a selection of unique presents and decorative items for the home.

Digital Direction Phase 2 Opens for Business

Based on the success of the first phase, Digital Direction has won an extension to 31st March 2013.  That means there will be more events, workshops, resources and opportunities for you to gain bespoke IT support. 
 
There are also new elements to the programme.  We have spent the past couple of months looking at what worked well and what needed improving.

Digital Direction Showcase at MADE

MADE, the national festival of entrepreneurship, came to Sheffield again this September and Digital Direction was part of the programme, showing how IT and new media are part of the basic toolkit for building successful businesses.
 
Two clients who have both received bespoke IT support through the programme told their stories and ‘exposed’ the truth behind Digital Direction to a room full of interested parties who turned up early for the breakfast event at Creative Sheffield.

Getting ahead of the Technology Curve

Event: Fast, Flexible, Free - 
New ways to run your business

Business events are always better with good food & refreshments. So on Tuesday 1st of May, Digital Direction hosted a breakfast event at The Holiday Inn Royal Victoria. The event – ‘Fast, Free, & Flexible: New Ways to run your Business’ – was attended by 25 local businesses who heard from various speakers including David Kay, Jessica Zeun, Dick Moore, and Dean Maragh, and got to take part in 1 of 3 workshops.

Digital Direction Empowering Businesses

Since the launch of Digital Direction in early 2012, over 80 companies have been supported in implementing solutions to various challenges in their operations, whether that’s with marketing, secure data storage, or web development. Already, 21 of these have received a full diagnostic assessment to help them identify exactly where new technologies can help them secure an advantage for their business. Also, 17 local companies have joined the approved experts’ directory.

Sheffield’s new business growth programme is off the ground…

Florists, designers, manufacturers, retailers, dry cleaners, child care services, film makers and IT companies… these were just some of the businesses that attended the Digital Direction launch event at The Showroom Cinema on 24th January. 
 
Over 80 people turned out for an early start on a dark, wet January morning but despite the weather there was a real buzz of enthusiasm and not just for the tasty breakfast baguettes cooked up by The Showroom catering team.
